Hours away
Wake up… coffee. I'm feeling caffeinated and the energy to fuel the next few hours before a long, tedious day at work lies ahead.
Those hours before going into work or tackling whatever daunting tasks you may have, well, in my opinion, they are by far the most impactful to you. If you look at those hours, those crucial hours of freedom, and ever think to yourself that you might be squandering them, chances are you probably are. Whether it's three hours, five hours, or eight hours, use that time before going into a place where you can’t be who you want to be, where you are paid to be a different person. This is by no means a way of disparaging a job. It is the simply unvarnished truth. Everyone needs to do it to make a living, to be a functioning and contributing member of society. We all have to clock in at the end of the day, clock out. Whether it’s working at a hair salon or a 9 to 5 corporate office job, it’s all the same. When you’re not being the person that whoever is paying you to be, you need to concentrate and put that energy into being the person you are. I think there’s a lot of discussion and focus on being the person you want to be. While that is true, and we should always be striving towards being a better individual and becoming who we want to be in the future, I think we get so wrapped up in that idea that we forget to just be who we are and what we are at that moment in this very present time. Be who you are, because we spend so much time not being that person. It sounds simple and so obvious, but we lack this so much.
Think of that for a moment.
Be who you are when life permits; we spend hours of it being someone else.
