Oh, how life comes at you fast.

One minute, you find yourself in your friend's studio, casually smoking weed, and enjoying the moment. However, just an hour later, you're abruptly thrust into an entirely different setting—the emergency room, where you're in need of 11 stitches on your upper lip. The sudden shift from a laid-back atmosphere to a medical emergency is both surprising and disorienting. Nonetheless, the medical professionals swiftly attend to your injury, skillfully applying the necessary stitches to mend your split lip.

I was peacefully lying down with my small golden doodle, a dog that had never once shown any signs of aggression towards me. However, out of nowhere, he suddenly snapped, and his jaw clamped onto my lip while his face was close to mine. Although he let go quickly, my lip felt as if it had been torn in two, resulting in blood everywhere. I was more shocked than in pain, but I knew I needed immediate medical attention. I rushed to the emergency room, where I had to endure the wait with a swollen and split lip, fully aware that I was about to receive my first-ever set of stitches. After approximately an hour, the wait finally ended, and before I knew it, I was lying down with my eyes covered while a doctor skillfully stitched up my wound. It took 11 stitches to mend my lip, and I was also prescribed antibiotics. With the stitching complete, I left the hospital, only to find myself waking up six hours later, preparing for a six-hour flight to New York City.
