Van changes

Since my quiet exit from my recent job, I've been working on small renovations in my van, focusing on details and improvements to enhance my life on the road. I replaced the original plastic shell on my side doors with wood paneling, adding a rustic feel. I knew from the start I wouldn’t frame and use wood across all the panels, but adding it to the two doors was a nice touch.

I also upgraded my window covers. The initial versions were simple rectangle fabric cutouts with Velcro along the edge of the top, which barely improved privacy or light leakage. The second attempt involved tracing and cutting Reflectix for each window, covering them with fabric on both sides using hot glue. I was really impressed on my fabric choice, if you haven’t been or seen my van. My window covers design are these white wolves, it looks badass. However, the hot glue used couldn't withstand direct sunlight, causing them to fall off and fit poorly. The third iteration is nearly perfect, cut precisely to each window's mold and size, with the fabric now attached using spray adhesive for better heat resistance. I took my time to ensure each cover molded perfectly to the edges, and I'm really pleased with the outcome.

I've emptied the van and am contemplating a significant redesign. This might include getting a new living room carpet, painting my desk,, or updating the upholstery. With about two weeks to complete these updates—or undertake a major redesign— I just know I will not leave with the same van I came here with.
