Shoulder update pt. 2
Here's a minor update on my shoulder injury: I've been attending physical therapy here in Encinitas, all the while waiting for insurance to approve my referral for an MRI. You know, the usual, rather mundane aspects of life. Yesterday, while at work, I received a text that slightly lifted my spirits. It wasn't enough to sustain genuine happiness, but it was enough to get me through the hour. My MRI was approved, and I managed to schedule an appointment for the first of February. Exciting stuff, right?
This development has been long overdue and something I've anticipated for a few years now. What I'm hoping for is that the MRI results will provide clarity and foresight regarding the next steps. I want to understand the severity of the injury and pinpoint its exact location. At the moment, I'm doing physical therapy, but it feels like im shooting at a target that I can't see. This MRI, I believe, will finally put that target in clear view, allowing me to aim my efforts more effectively and hopefully, lead to a more targeted and successful recovery.
Injuries are terrible for anyone, and I sympathize with anyone going through them. We all have our reasons for wanting to get back to an injury-free life, whether it's due to pain, children, work, or a hobby. When you put your body through the wringer, well, this is what happens; it comes with the territory, and I've accepted this. If I want to be injury and pain-free forever, I might as well sell my climbing gear and get an office job because how can my shoulder tear off if I go to the office and then go home to watch "Sex and the City" and eat my pasta marinara? Well, maybe it can, but the chances are highly unlikely.
