Movie review : The Iron Claw

Recently, I dedicated some time to watch a movie from beginning to end, something I hadn’t done in a while. The film I chose was “The Iron Claw,” starring Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White, which tells the story of the legendary Von Erich family and their careers in entertainment wrestling. Before watching the movie, I was unfamiliar with them, but their story, as shown in the film was intense and with the further research i did after watching it. I was jaw dropped.

“The Iron Claw” is an awesome film that centers on the complex relationships between four brothers and their bond not only with each other but also with their father. It explored the detailed and sometimes rough relationship they share with him. Without spoiling the movie, I must say its a movie that had me glued it beautifully portrays the challenges of a family immersed in the world of professional wrestling at that time. It shows the successes and the downfalls they all had to go through. With some killer acting from every actor but Zac Efron really nailed it.

The portrayal of each character is deeply layered, every actor did a really good job at bringing out who the character was and what struggle they each had. Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White are straight up artists!! The performances captured the core of the Von Erich legacy, something i had no idea about and why would I? Im no wrestling fan. Though, after watching that, I can seriously appreciate it to a certain degree.

The whole movie was about the insane wrestling industry and how their family impacted it, and the importance of their family in wrestling, I’d recommend this film to anybody. You don’t have to be a sports lover or a wrestling lover. Just watch if you appreciate really good and compelling storytelling.
